About Us

“Hi! I'm Brooklyn Hawkins, founder and director of In the Middle of a Miracle. 

As a teenager, I always had a heart for serving others and dreamed of one day starting a nonprofit organization. I never imagined that dream would come to life the way it did. In the fall of 2022, I was diagnosed with cancer. My world changed overnight, and I quickly learned just how overwhelming and isolating that journey could be. But in the middle of one of the hardest seasons of my life, I also experienced incredible kindness from the people who walked alongside me which reminded me that even in life's darkest times, miracles can still be found. Through my experience as a teen battling cancer, I realized I had been given a voice and a story that could make a difference. I wanted to use my experiences to encourage other children and teens facing cancer, raise awareness for pediatric cancer, and create opportunities for others to join this mission of serving families when they need it most. That's why I founded In the Middle of a Miracle. Today, In the Middle of a Miracle is dedicated to supporting children and teens battling cancer across Oklahoma through service, advocacy, and community. My hope is that every child and family we meet knows they are so much more than a diagnosis. Cancer may become part of their story, but it will never define who they are or all they are capable of becoming.”
